Kent is home for a wealth of resident nature, including iconic UK favourites as well as fascinating species fairly unique to Kent - some of those being rare, threatened or endangered, and dependant upon Kent’s unique and, now-rare native habitats. Alongside brilliant locals, summer and winter migrants travel vast reaches of the world to thrive here - testiment to the quality of life for nature in Kent, and to the importance of protecting this. Summer migrants join the locals to breed and feed their young on Kent’s rich emergence of bugs, with warblers, swifts, swallows and martens enlivening the air with displays and song. Winter migrants see-out the colder months in Kent’s warmer climes, and frantically feed to build strength for the following Spring’s long migrations and breeding season. The Winter coast & wetlands are busy with waders chattering and hunting on the food-rich mudflats. Inland, Redwings and Fieldfares join the local woodland and scrubland birds in hunt for Winter berries. I hope to showcase Kent’s great, native nature, to be enjoyed & celebtated, as it deserves. Here’s merely a taster, I encourage anyone to discover and connect with Kent’s nature, to help grow support for its best chances to thrive into the future!

Kent’s nature bursts-out and flourishes

impressively from any space it’s allowed to.

But, with nature’s space ever-reducing,

it needs our recognition and support!
